Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 14, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information ClaimScout ("we," "us," or "our") collects through the ClaimScout iOS app and the tryclaimscout.com website (together, the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have.
The short version: we collect only what the app needs to work — your matching answers, an optional sign-in email, saved claims, a push token if you enable notifications, and subscription status. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.
1. Information We Collect
Profile answers. To match you with settlements, the app asks for your U.S. state, age, and broad spending categories (for example "Subscriptions" or "Travel"). These stay on your device unless you sign in, in which case they sync to your account.
Account information. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address (or Apple's private relay address) and a unique user identifier. Sign-in is optional.
Saved and submitted claims. The claims you save, watch, or mark as submitted in your tracker, so the app can sync them across your devices.
Push notification token. If you enable notifications, a device push token is created so we can send deadline and new-match alerts.
Subscription status. Whether you have an active premium subscription, and which plan. Payment is processed entirely by Apple — we never see your payment card details.
What we do not collect: precise location, contacts, photos, browsing history outside the app, or advertising identifiers. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Website analytics. On tryclaimscout.com we use Vercel Web Analytics, a cookieless service that records anonymized page views (page URL, referrer, device type, and country). It does not use cookies, does not store identifiers that persist across visits, and cannot identify you personally.
2. How We Use Information
- Match you with settlements that may fit your profile;
- Sync your profile and claim tracker across devices when signed in;
- Send push notifications you have opted into (deadline reminders, new matches, watched investigations);
- Provide and verify your subscription;
- Maintain the security and reliability of the Service.
3. When You File a Claim
Settlement claims are filed directly on the settlement administrator's website, which opens inside the app's browser. Anything you enter on an administrator's site goes to that administrator, not to ClaimScout, and is governed by their privacy policy. We recommend reviewing it before submitting.
4. Service Providers
We share data only with the processors needed to run the Service:
- Supabase — hosts our database and authentication (account data, profile answers, saved claims);
- RevenueCat — manages subscription entitlements (user identifier, purchase status; no payment card data);
- OneSignal — delivers push notifications (device push token, user identifier);
- Apple — processes subscription payments and sign-in with Apple.
Each provider processes data on our behalf and under its own security commitments. We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers.
5. Data Retention
Account data and synced claims are retained while your account exists. If you never sign in, your profile answers and tracker live only on your device and are removed when you delete the app. Server logs and diagnostic records are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
6. Deleting Your Account and Data
In the app, go to Account → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your ClaimScout account, profile, and synced claim data from our systems. Your Apple subscription, if active, must be canceled separately in your Apple ID settings, since Apple manages billing. You can also email us at the address below to request deletion.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live (including under the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar state laws, or the GDPR if you are in the EEA or UK), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. We honor these rights for all users: contact us at the address below, or use the in-app deletion described above. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them. Because we do not sell or share personal information for advertising, there is nothing to opt out of under "Do Not Sell or Share."
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and stored with access controls by our hosting providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard practices.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. International Users
The Service is operated from the United States and intended for U.S. users; settlements listed are U.S. class actions. If you use the Service from elsewhere, your information will be processed in the United States.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date above reflects the latest revision, and material changes will be communicated through the app or this site.
